Maple Cross JMI & Nursery

Extraordinary

Maple Cross is an extraordinary school and we aim to be extraordinary in all that we do. Part of being an extraordinary learner is learning to be curious in all we do. Being curious is asking What? How? Why? and ‽

Meet our agents of wonder:

  • Miss O'Keeffe & Mrs Devein
  • Eva (Oak)
  • Jacob (Larch)
  • Lee (Ash)
  • Kenzo (Beech)
  • Emilie (Cedar)
  • Phoebe (Elm)
  • Ellie & Amelia (Chestnut)

Since April 2025, we have been working with Dave Harris and Matthew McFall from Independent Thinking to develop the 'extraordinary' aspect of our school. You can find out more about Independent Thinking here - https://www.independentthinking.co.uk/

Dave and Matthew have been in school and commented . . .

"Across the whole school we saw excellent behaviour for learning and only positive types of engagement."

"The school is a bright and positive learning space."

"All the pupils we met were happy and curious learners with a real positivity about their school and the staff in it. The school is a happy place for staff and pupils."

Our agents of wonder are developing and leading a culture of curiosity by creating provocations that inspire and challenge all our thinking! Have you seen our cabinet of curiosity or labyrnith?

Are children are provided opportunities to develop their extraordinary questioning skills by asking -

What? How? Why? ‽
