Equality
Our school is fully committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion for all members of our community. In accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), we actively work to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
We regularly review our policies, practices and curriculum to ensure that equality considerations are embedded throughout school life. We share in Governor meetings with updated information annually to demonstrate how we comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty and set clear equality objectives, which are reviewed and updated at least every four years. Through our commitment to these principles, we strive to create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Objective 1
Have in place a reasonable adjustment agreement for all staff with disabilities by September, to meet their needs better and make sure that any disadvantages they experience are addressed.
Why we have chosen this objective: our inclusive school promotes a culture that everyone is welcome and belongs which includes staff. We want all staff to be able to fulfil their roles to the best of their abilities and by providing reasonable adjustments we can better support staff to do their role.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: review all staff’s personnel folder and offer a 1:1 meeting to create reasonable adjustment agreements for all staff as needed.
Progress we are making towards this objective: HR reviews between Head Teacher and School Business Manager.
Objective 2
Increase the representation of teachers from local Black and minority ethnic communities over a 4-year period (from this July to July in 4 years' time), so that this group increases from 10% to 20% of the teaching workforce.
Why we have chosen this objective: following on from our completion of the Great Representation project we have actively sought to increase the diversity of our staff to ensure all our local communities feel valued and seen within the staff.
To achieve this objective, we plan to: promote applications from all global majority ethnicities through appropriate and inclusive wording and the active use of our social media accounts to promote our global majority staff and families.
