FGB: 22nd January 2018

Tonight saw the first Full Governing Body of 2018 and, as ever, there was plenty of lively debate about the journey our school has been on, and our direction of travel.

Amongst many other things we discussed:

  • A discussion of attendance and punctuality.
  • The School Improvement Plan
  • A discussion of the various ‘action research’ projects happening in the school.
  • Updates on the lower playground equipment and kitchen projects.
  • A discussion of the staff survey
  • An update from the Academisation Working Party
  • Next meeting – Monday 19th March

Should you have any questions for the governing body, please feel free to email our Chair of Governors, Amanda Erasmus (chair@maplecross.herts.sch.uk)

Food Bank Donation

Huge thanks to our Maple Cross community for raising a magnificent £231.30 at the KS1 Christmas performance and Christmas Celebration at St Thomas’ church.

Our School Council agreed that this should be donated to the local food bank so that we can help local people who, for a variety of reasons, don’t have enough money for a decent meal. Iris, from the food bank, explained to the School Council how the food bank works and showed them how they organise all their food. It’s quite an operation!

Mr Roberts often talks about ‘making a difference. By making your donation, you helped us to help Iris and her team to make a big difference to nearly 70 people/families in the WD3 area.

Thank you, and Happy Christmas!

Commencing Monday 4th September  mains replacement gas works on Woodland Road are due to begin.   There will be  open excavations in the foot-ways on Woodland Road, the contractors are Cadent and they will have vans and machinery along Woodland Road.

Please do not park or attempt to park down Woodland Road or in the Cul-de-Sac to the school.  I realise that this is inconvenient but we urge you to either walk/cycle your children to school or park down one of the roads at the end of Woodland Road.  With the obstruction of the gas works the road must be left clear for through traffic and emergency traffic.

Thank you for your co-operation

NSPCC – Speak out and stay safe

Today children from Reception to Year 6 had assemblies from the NSPCC. These assemblies were split into age appropriate groups. The children watched videos, had discussions and listened to other children about how to stay safe.

Please discuss with your child what they heard in assembly. Keeping children safe is the most important job for us all. Please follow this link for more details.

The children have brought a sponsorship form home and more details will follow this week.
