Year 1s explored structures and collages today with mini-beasts as our theme! First we warmed up our fingers by sculpting snails out of salt dough, focusing on how to roll the dough into spirals. Then we used up all of the old recycling from the school to make cardboard butterflies, caterpillars and even a frog. We then collected lots of natural materials outside to create art collages inspired by Andy Goldsworthy. We finished off the day by working together to create a giant 3D model of a spider made out of newspaper. The children worked together cooperatively and really enjoyed themselves. A great end to the first week back!
