Outside Learning in Reception

Today we did our phonics learning outside.  Children took it in turns to hold sounds and when the adult said a sound we ran to the sound. Then we used our chalk and our letter formation rhymes to write the sounds on the ground.

Later in the morning we found a caterpillar in the garden and this afternoon a total of 5 caterpillars were found. The children took great care holding the caterpillars so that they didn’t squash them and found leaves for the caterpillars to eat. We also looked at The Very Hungry Caterpillar story to see if the caterpillar we found was like the one in the book.
